RAMECHHAP, August 9

A Nepali Army soldier was arrested after he killed his wife and threw his 14-month-old daughter in the forest of Manthali Municipality in Ramechhap yesterday.

Locals informed the police after they found a body of the murdered woman and a baby crying near the body of her mother in Thokrekhola Forest yesterday.

Preliminary investigation showed that Indra Bishwokarma (Chhetri) of Ramechhap Municipality was murdered by her husband Ramesh Kumar Bishwokarma yesterday evening.

Police arrested the culprit from his house on the same day. Ramesh confessed his crime to the police, but the reason behind the incident is yet to come out.

The body was recovered by Ward Civil Forum coordinator Dhruba Prasad Subedi along with security personnel deployed from District Police Office, Ramechhap. It is said that the neck of the victim was tied with a shawl and the mouth and different body parts were mutilated.

The body was brought to Primary Health Service Centre, Manthali while the child is being treated at Tama Koshi Cooperative Hospital through Sneha Kendra. The Kendra is running the woman and children office. Police said that Indra had come to Ramechhap to meet her husband with her 14-month-old daughter some days ago and had been living in a hotel at Bhaiseshwor. Police have found some important documents like marriage certificate and her daughter’s birth certificate from Indra’s possession.
