State-of-the-art fun park to be built in Jhapa in two years

Jhapa, November 27

If everything goes as per the plan, Jhapa will have a state-of-the-art fun park within a couple of years from now.

The proposed park, to be designed in the likes of the world’s famous Disneyland,  is tipped to be the first of its kind in entire South Asia.

According to Ajeyaraj Sumargi, who is the major investor, the estimated cost of the park is Rs 16 billion.

“The park will be constructed at Baluwatar in Damak Municipality-8, and will spread over some 122 bigha land,” said Sumargi.

Besides Sumargi, local leaders of Damak, Gagan Puri and Devendra Dahal, will also share investment in the project in one way or the other.

“The park will be ready in two-and-a-half years. Even the provincial government will invest certain per cent in the project,” said Sumargi.

Furthermore, the investor informed that the park would be built under PPC model and thereby would be the first ever fun park to be built under such a model in the entire country.

“The park will be a kind of replica of the Disneyland and is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors from across India and other South Asian countries,” Sumargi said, expressing confidence that the project would be a great fillip to the development of Jhapa in particular, and the entire province as a whole.

While Sumargi himself and the prime minister’s personal secretary Indra Bhandari have been coordinating at the central level for the construction of the park, local leaders and investors Gagan Puri and Devendra Dahal are entrusted with the task at the local level.

As the park construction has gained momentum, Sumargi arrived Damak twice to visit the site and hold further discussions.

“Now that the site seems suitable for the project, work related to preparation of detailed project report is on. We hope we will soon be able to lay the foundation stone of the project, perhaps by mid-February,” Sumargi informed.
