Sushil Gyewali asserts efficiency in 2nd clarification too

KATHMANDU: National Reconstruction Authority Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyewali on Sunday furnished the government with his clarification, claiming he was efficient enough to hold the position.

Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, confirmed that Gyewali submitted the clarification today in response to the government's call on Friday.

He has explained his role in coordination for post-earthquake reconstruction, grant distribution and resettlement efforts in the clarification, according to Thapaliya.

Thapaliya said the OPMCM handed over the explanation to Chief Secretary Som Lal Subedi for further action.

On Thursday, the government had given him 24 hours to furnish the second clarification claiming his first response to the government's question over his performance was not satisfactory.

Furnishing a 12-page clarification on Wednesday, he had told the government that there was not any ground behind the charge that his performance was inefficient.

The government on December 29 had sought an explanation from the official for the first time, expressing dissatisfaction with his performance in the post-quake reconstruction front.

It was reported that the government had sought the clarification as the first step in its bid to relieve him of the powerful position.

Gyewali was appointed by the erstwhile KP Sharma Oli-led coalition government in December 2015.
