Okhaldhunga, August 29

Seven persons, including the leader of Nepali Congress sister wing Tarun Dal of Siddhicharan Municipality, were injured in an attack in Okhaldhugna today.

The injured are Chairperson of Tarun Dal Suman Rai along with Maitiraj Rai and Sanam Rai of Siddhicharan as well as Sanad Rai, Sugam Rai, Rajendra Rai and Chandradhan Rai of Rangadeep VDC.

According to sources at the district police office, an unidentified group had launched an attack with sharp weapons at about 2:00am at the house of local Paras Magar in Jantarkhani VDC.

Having set out from the district headquarters to observe a fair in Changesthan, the group of attacker had stayed over at Magar’s house planning to resume their journey the next day.

Police said the group had attacked another group staying in the same house after a dispute that night. The injured have received multiple injuries all over their bodies.

According to Suman’s father, seriously injured Suman, Sanam, Rajendra, and Sanad were taken to the Capital for further treatment today afternoon. The others are undergoing treatment at the district hospital.

Police have detained three suspects for their involvement in the attack, said DSP Dipendra Shah of DPO.
