Thawang RM-2 Chairperson Gharti goes missing

ROLPA: The Chairperson of Thawang Rural Municipality in Rolpa district has been reportedly abducted since he went out of contact on Thursday night.

Chairman Bir Bahadur Gharti had left to visit his in-laws at Koichawang area in Thawang RM-2 from where he was allegedly abducted by a group of 10-12 people, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Birendra Thapa at the Rolpa District Police Office.

Dr Dijan Bhattarai, Chief District Officer said, “Police units in and around Thawang have been mobilised to search for Gharti. The Armed Police Force squad from Tila area in the district has also been sent to the incident site.”

The cadres of the Biplav led Communist Party of Nepal were suspected to be behind Gharti's abduction planned with an aim to disrupt the 1st Village Assembly of the RM scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal tomorrow.
