Three of same family killed in Arghakhachi car plunge

BHAIRAHAWA: As many as three persons died and two others sustained injuries after the car they were travelling on fell below the road in Narpani of Arghakhachi district, on Wednesday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Durga Devi Khadka (70), Tilak Khadka (40), and Bhakta Bahadur Khadka (43) of Murgiya in Sainamaina Municipality-2 of Rupandehi district. The deceased are said to members of the same family.

Police also identified the injured as driver Gangaram Khadka (49) and Binod Khadka (28), residents of Sainamaina-2.

According to Provincial Traffic Police Office, Butwal, the car (Ba 17 Cha 6917) en route from Murgiya in Rupandehi to Sandhikharka in Arghakhachi, skidded off the road and fell some 150 metres below the road, killing three and injuring two persons aboard the vehicle.

The car ran out of control when suddenly the driver braked at a narrow inclination along the hilly road, presumed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prakash Bista at District Police Office, Arghakhachi.

The injured have been referred to Butwal-based health facilities after administering primary treatment at Thada Primary Health Centre.
