Missing toddler found dead in Birgunj
BIRGUNJ: A girl child who had gone missing on Thursday was found dead in Birgunj Sub-Metropolitan-19, on Friday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Rupa Kumari, 14-month-old daughter of Anita Devi Sonar of Kalaiya in Bara district.
The body was found close to the Birgunj Sub-Metropolitan's road toll counter, in front of the Asia Dental Hospital, according to the Inarwa-based border police post.
Anita Devi had reported to the police that her daughter went missing from Rajat Jayanti Chok in Birgunj the previous day.
After breastfeeding the child at around 6 pm, Anita Devi reportedly took her to house next to the tea shop that she owns as the child fell asleep. But when she returned home at around 9 pm after closing the shop, the child had gone missing.
Earlier, Anita Devi had believed that the toddler was kidnapped.
Police suspected that child was murdered and her body was dumped on the roadside.
Meanwhile, police detained two persons for interrogation, according to SP Rajubabu Shrestha of District Police Office, Parsa.
They are said to be Anita Devi's husband Sunil Yadav and her ex-husband Devendra Yadav.
