Two, including an NC leader’s murder accused, arrested

District Police Dhanusha today held at least two persons, including the commander of Janatantrik Tiger Janashakti Party, an underground outfit in the Tarai on the charge of their involvement in various criminal cases.

Security personnel held Prithvi Singh alias Kailash Thakur, 20, of Mirchaiya, Siraha. Singh was accused of murdering Rajendra Yadav, a Nepali Congress constituency representative of Dhanusha on February 5.

He was also charged of shooting Nasim Rain of Birendra Bazaar, another Nepali Congress constituency representative of the district on February 6, according to Dhanusha Police Chief SP Ram Datta Joshi.

Binod Yadav alias Kari Yadav, 30, of Bhediya, Siraha also was arrested along with Thakur, while the former was driving a motorbike which the latter was riding pillion.

Police seized a pistol, a magazine, seven rounds of bullets, two mobile sets, an Indian sim card and a Nepali sim card from both of them, according to SP Joshi.

They were held from Indian territory along the Nepal-India border.

Police suspected a transaction might be the cause of the murder. “Everyone, except the person involved in the incidents has been held.

However, the reasons behind the incidents are yet to be ascertained,” said police.
