Two months on, body of Nepali migrant yet to be brought home

NAWALPARASI: About two months after the killing of a migrant worker in Dubai, the body of Ram Bahadur Lama is yet to be brought home.

Lama's family members rue the delay in the process to bring back the body. Lama's wife Harimaya said that they are eagerly waiting for the body's arrival.

Lama, a permanent resident of Devchuli Municipality-7 in Nawalparasi, was reportedly murdered by a fellow Nepali migrant worker about two months ago. Lama, who had gone to Dubai one month ago, worked as a driver.

The Safe Migration Information and Counseling Center (SMICC) run by the Himalayan Community Development Forum, an NGO, said that efforts are on to bring back the body to Nepal.

Khagaraj Gautam, coordinator at the SMICC, said that the on-going investigation into Lama's murder in Dubai and the festival of Bakra Eid of the Muslim community are among reasons behind the delay.
