UDMF cadres demonstrate against police intervention; Birgunj border blocked again

BIRGUNJ: The cadres of United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) have demonstrated against the intervention of the Nepal security force in various parts of Parsa district.

Subsequently, the border point, which resumed operation earlier this morning, was blocked again.

Stating that the police personnel used force to remove them off the no-man's land and end their peaceful sit-in protest, the UDMF cadres have burned tyres and chanted slogans in different parts of Birgunj including Ghantaghar, Maisthan, Chapkaiya, New Bus Park along the Bypass road section.

Around a dozen of people were injured following the baton charge by the police to remove them from their protest.

Similarly, the protest is being held at Gandak, Parwanipur and Jitpur areas of the district as well.

UDMF cadres had been staging a sit-in protest in the Birgunj border point for the past 39 days.
