UDMF, Federal Alliance to launch fresh stir

Kathmandu, April 9

A meeting of the United Democratic Madhesi Front, Federal Alliance, Indigenous Nationalities National Movement and some other outfits championing the cause of Janajatis held a meeting here today and agreed to launch a new movement against ‘discriminatory provisions’ of the new constitution.

Rajkishor Yadav, chair of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Republican, a constituent of the UDMF said the Madhesi and Janajati forces decided to launch a nation-wide movement under single banner in order to force the major forces to ensure rights of Madhesis, Janajatis and other marginalised communities.

Yadav said the meeting agreed that if the marginalized communities did not fight unitedly, they would continue to suffer marginalisation and discrimination for long.

He said the Madhesi and Janajati forces agreed that there was no alternative to movement for the government remained indifferent to their demands.

The UDMF had given the government till mid-April to fulfill their 11 point demands.

According to Yadav, the Madhesi and Janajati forces would hold another meeting on April 14 to discuss strategies of their next movement.

The UDMF and the Federal Alliance is likely to hold interaction with other stakeholders where they could also unveil their programmes of protests.
