UDMF forms talks team, but decides to continue protests

KATHMANDU: The agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front formed a team to hold talks with the government.

A meeting of UDMF constituents - Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal, Tarai Madhes Democratic Party, Sadbhawana Party and Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party - took the decision to that effect.

Members of the talks team are FSF-N's Lal Babu Raut, TMDP's Sarvendra Nath Shukla, Sadbhawana Party's Laxman Lal Karna and TMSP's Ram Naresh Raya.

The alliance, however, has decided to continue the protest programmes including obstruction of supplies from India to Nepal in the Tarai districts.

The UDMF, in a statement issued after the meeting, has urged the government to create conducive environment for meaningful and result-oriented talks.

It also called the government to put forth a concrete proposal for negotiations.
