UDMF protest against govt continues in Tarai

The agitating leaders and cadres of United Democratic Madhesi Front continued their protest into the 103rd day in Gaur, Rautahat, today.

District coordinator and district chairman of Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal Ram Niwas Yadav led a mass that demonstrated after chanting the slogans against the government at the district headquarter for the entire day today.

The leaders and cadres continued their sit-in protest and blockade of the Birgunj-Raxaul border point at Miteri Bridge.

Rewant Jha, the former personal aide of CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal said that the country would face more problems if the demands of the people of Madhes were not addressed soon.

Jha recently joined the ongoing protests in the Madhes after quitting the UML. He accused the leadership of failing to address the demands of Madhes.

Meanwhile, agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front cadres set a heavy truck on fire at Dhalkebar in Dhanusha yesterday night.

According to Area Police Office, Dhalkebar, the truck, which was heading to Kathmandu from the east with clothes, was set on fire. Police said the vehicle, along with materials worth Rs 11 lakh, was destroyed in the blaze.

Meanwhile, Chairman Shesh Narayan Yadav of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, Dhanusha, said cadres had also vandalised more than two dozen vehicles escorted by police.

A police team led by DIGP Debendra Subedi of mid-regional Police Office, Hetauda had escorted vehicles in Dhalkebar while the DIG Madhav Joshi-led police team had escorted vehicles along the highway sections in Bhardaha, Saptari.
