UDMF urged to form grand alliance of Madhesi forces

Kathmandu, February 1

Federal Inclusive Madhesi Alliance has urged the United Democratic Madhesi Front to agree on forming a grand alliance of agitating Madhesi forces.

Both these alliances are protesting against the provisions of the new constitution since last few months.

The alliance issued a statement today saying that it is favour of Madhes-centric movement as Madhes issues are at the core of current standoff between the agitating forces and the state.

The alliance urged indigenous nationalities, Dalits and Muslims to support the ongoing agitation in order to safeguard their interests as well as the interests of other marginalised communities.

The alliance decided to continue the agitation and said it would announce fresh protest programmes soon. FIMA accused the government of not being serious about settling the issues raised by the agitating forces through negotiations.

National Madhes Socialist Party, Nepal Sadbhawana Party, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Republican and Tarai Madhes National Campaign are the constituents of FIMA.
