Underground outfit JTJP army commander, two others arrested

Police in Dhanusha today made public Janatantrik Tiger Janashakti Party army commander and two others for their involvement in various criminal activities in the Tarai.

JTJP army commander Ramrijhan Yadav, 24, alias Ajaya Singh, of Rajpur, and his aides Bechan Paswan, 29, of Mirchaiya and Jasalal Yadav, 40, of Rajpur, Siraha were paraded at a press conference in Dhanusha district police office.

While Bechan is a jeep driver, Jasalal is a supervisor at the Kamala Irrigation Project in Sarlahi. Citing their involvement in extorting from traders, entrepreneurs and other important personalities in the Tarai Madhes for a long time, police picked up Singh from Khajuri of Dhanusha, while the two were arrested from Portaha, Sarlahi on Thursday.

According to Dhanusha Police Chief SP Ramdatta Joshi, police seized two motorbike, four mobile sets, three Indian and Nepali SIM cards along with Rs 50,000 cash from them.

“It was with the help of inputs from the two that we managed to arrest Ajaya,” said the SP, adding that Singh had owned up to the shooting of Nepali Congress electoral constituency representative Nasim Rain in Birendrabazaar of Dhanusha on February 6.

Police have said investigation is on regarding Singh’s involvement in a murder case, while the two others are being investigated for extortion.

“As for the murder of another NC electoral constituency representative Rajendra Yadav in Balabakhar, Dhanusha, though Singh has claimed his hand behind the murder as well, we are still investigating the validity of his claim,” said SP Joshi.

The murder attempt on Rain had taken place barely 12 hours after Yadav was shot to death on February 5.
