Unified CPN-Maoist CC endorses 16-point pact

KATHMANDU: A central committee meeting of the Unified CPN-Maoist today endorsed the 16-point agreement that the four parties — Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, the UCPN-M and Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic — had signed on Monday to pave the way for constitution drafting.

While addressing the meeting, UCPN-M Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said, “The parties have managed to reach consensus on the new constitution without being influenced by any foreign powers, therefore, there might

some hurdles during the implementation of the agreement.” He told the meeting that the compromise on the stance of the party was a compulsion. Dahal said the country was about to plunge into crisis and people’s frustration could take the parties out

of scene.

Dahal said the party should launch political trainings in different parts of the country, focusing

on Madhes, according to party treasurer Haribol Gajurel.

Dahal said the party would put all its efforts to implement the agreement.
