KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two youths — one on charge of raping a teenage girl and another on rape attempt on a girl with physical disability — in Parbat district.

A youth was arrested for allegedly raping a girl in Majhmela jungle near Kushma Bazaar and another youth for attempting to rape a girl with physical disability from Jaljala Rural Municipality in the district.

Police arrested Anil BK aka Mangale (26) of Malkawang-1 of Myagdi district, who had currently been living in Sahashradhara area of Kushma Municipality-1 in Parbat district. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dilip Ghimire at Parbat District Police Office was quoted in Rastriya Samachar Samiti as saying, "BK is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl at the community forest in Manjhmela area of Kushma Municipality-4 at around 10:00 pm on Friday."

She was immediately rescued by a team deployed from the District Police Office. The crime scene is located at a distance of 500 metres from the District Police Office, Parbat.

In another incident, police arrested 20-year-old Baburam Pariyar of Jaljala Rural Municipality-7 in Parbat district for attempting to rape a physically challenged 13-year-old girl.

Pariyar tried to rape the girl at 10:00 am on Sunday at the victim's house. The girl's mother rescued her and informed police.

Meanwhile, Durga Bahadur Chhetri of Chuwa area in Kushma Municipality-8 has been arrested on the charge of raping his sister-in-law.
