Butwal acid attack victim dies; boyfriend held for probe
KATHMANDU: A 27-year-old woman who had survived an acid attack from her boyfriend died in the course of treatment in Butwal on Monday.
The Bhairahawa-based Rupandehi District Police Office confirmed that Tulasa Sapkota from Gaindakot of Nawalparasi died at around 12:30 pm today while undergoing treatment at the Butwal-based Lumbini Zonal Hospital.
She was attacked with the acid by her alleged lover Sunil Koirala (28), a permanent resident of Naubise-1 of Dhading district, at a Butwal-based hotel last night.

Youth held for acid attack on girlfriend in Butwal
KATHMANDU: Police on Sunday arrested a youth after he allegedly committed an acid attack on his girlfriend in Butwal of Rupandehi district.
Sunil Koirala (28), a permanent resident of Naubise-1 of Dhading district, was arrested yesterday for injuring his 27-year-old girlfriend from Gaindakot-5 of Nawalparasi district.
The duo had been staying at the Meridian Hotel in Butwal-6.
It has been reported that Koirala had hurled acid at the woman's face, head and body after they developed some misunderstanding.
The victim has been admitted to the Butwal-based Lumbini Zonal Hospital.
Meanwhile, police also arrested a relative of the victim (40, female) in connection to the case. She was residing in another room of the same hotel.
Further investigation is underway.
