AIPS-Asia meeting starts in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The executive committee meeting of the Asian Sports Press Association (AIPS-Asia) formally began here at the capital on Sunday. AIPS-Asia President Mohammed Qasim inaugurated the three-day meeting. A total of 26 delegates from 21 countries have arrived for the meeting, which is being hosted by the Nepal Sports Journalists Forum. Qasim also launched the AIPS-Asia website during the opening ceremony. Nepal Olympic Committee President Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Vice-president of Federation of Nepali Journalists Anita Bindu, International Sports Press Association (AIPS) Vice-president Mohammad Almalki, and AIPS-Asia Secretary General Amjad Malik expressed their views on the occasion. Qasim also handed over memento to Shrestha, Bindu, NSJF President Mahesh Acharya and AIPS-Asia Treasurer Niranjan Rajbanshi, who is also the chairman of the organising committee. The meeting will take place at Gokarna Forest Resort on Monday, while the AIPS officials are scheduled to meet President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Tuesday.
