Panel to look into ANFA fiasco as Three Star misses AFC Cup play-offs

KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association on Friday formed a three-member committee to look into the "matters that deprived Three Star Club from competing in the AFC Cup Championship play-offs".

Nepal's national league champions, Three Star Club, have been robbed of the AFC Cup second round berth after the national football governing body missed the registration deadline.

The committee, comprising of Bir Bahadur Khadka, ANFA Executive Committee member Ramesh Rayamajhi and Development Director Sanjib Mishra, has been given 15 days time to prepare its report over the fiasco.

Three Star had qualified for the second round of the inaugural tournament after finishing as the group winners in Mongolia in August.

But the Asian Football Confederation has included Mongolian Erchim FC, who were runners-up to Three Star in the qualifiers, for the draw after the ANFA did not respond to its four requests sent through email.

Cash award to winners

Meanwhile, a meeting of ANFA Executive Committee meeting has decided to award Nepal's national team that recently won the AFC Solidarity Cup in Malaysia with Rs 300,000 each.
