KATHMANDU: Baluwatar Cricket Club defeated Makwanpur Cricket Club by 22 runs and advanced to the semi-finals of the Khukuri Challenger T20 Cup here at the Mulpani cricket grounds on Wednesday.

Put into bat first, Baluwatar scored 167-6 in their allotted 20 overs before packing Makwanpur for 145 runs in 18.5 overs. Baluwatar posted a mammoth total riding on Prithu Baskota’s 40-ball 45 that included three boundaries and a six, while SumanUday scored 39-ball 44 hitting six boundaries.

In reply, Hashim Ansari scored a quick fire 27-ball 47 hitting six boundaries but he failed to avert the team’s defeat. Baluwatar’s Kshitiz Singh, who claimed three wickets, won the man-of-the-match award.
