Cricket skipper Khadka honoured

Kathmandu, January 19

Madan Bhandari Sports Academy honoured national cricket team skipper Paras Khadka with the Madan Bhandari Sports Award here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium on the sidelines of the first Great Cricket Carnival today.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari handed over the felicitation letter and Rs 25,000 to Khadka during the inauguration ceremony of the two-day carnival organised by academy’s cricket department. The academy honoured Khadka for leading the national team to the maiden ICC Twenty20 World Cup and helping the team to reach ICC World Cricket League Division-I.

Meanwhile, an exhibition match was played after forming two teams comprising of political leaders, artists and sports journalists. Besides that, the carnival also features talent hunt, cricket photo exhibition and cricket documentary exhibition.

Meanwhile, skipper Khadka said such events were good for Nepali cricket. “Cricket players and teams have been doing good in the field and such events will increase fan following and attract investments besides boosting the morale of young cricketers,” said Khadka.
