DCO Training ends

KATHMANDU: The Doping Control Officer Training was held in Kathmandu on Saturday with an aim of producing DCOs in the wake of the 13th South Asian Games to be hosted by Nepal next year.

A total of 17 participants from Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Bangladesh took part in the one-day programme conducted by South Asian Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (SARADO) expert Nima Gyaltsen of Bhutan. Dr Dristi Poudel, Dr Sushan Vaidya, Dr Ramesh Dhakal, Dr Sandhya Pyakurel, Dr Suzani Shrestha, Dr Gyanendra Shah, Dr Punam Pathak and Dr Dipendra Poudel represented Nepal in the training.

Other participants included Tshering Seldon and Sonam Tshewang from Bhutan, Hassan Hamdhoon, Aishath Nakhuma Rasheed and Zeeniya Zahir from the Maldives, IIshanka Harsahni Kusum Peiris Dehiwalaliyanage and Madusha Guruge from Sri Lanka, and Tasuna Tasfin Bony and Mehedi Hasan from Bangladesh.

NOC Vice-president Jyoti Rana, SARADO Manager Hussain Mohammed and President of Nepal Olympic Committee’s Medical Commission Dr Saroj Krishna Shrestha handed over certificates to the participants. — HNS
