Machhimi United won the title of the Rukum Cup Football Tournament here on Thursday. Machhimi defeated Siddhagufa Youth Club of Salle 4-1 in penalty shootout in the final.

The match was decided on penalties after both the teams failed to score in regulation 90 minutes and 15 minutes of extra time. In tie breaker, Kamal KC, Khum Bahadur Dhakal, Ajay Khadka and Kiran KC scored for Machhimi, while Ramesh Bohara was netted for Siddhagufa. Machhimi received Rs 80,000, while Siddhagufa earned Rs 50,000.

Two losing semi-finalists Rukmini HS School and Prabhi Yatayat got Rs 20,000 each. Kamal KC of Machhimi was named the best player, while Sanket Budhathoki of Siddhagufa was declared the youth player.

Rukmini’s Sanam Budhathoki was the highest scorer, while Bikash Thapa was the best defender. Machhimi’s Bishnu Ale received the best goalkeeper’s award and Kiran KC was named the best midfielder.

The individual award winners got Rs 3,000 each.
