Mithun Rai clinches Ruslan Golf Tournament title

Kathmandu, April 15

Mithun Rai won the title of the Ruslan Golf Tournament organised under the Centenary Celebrations of Royal Nepal Golf Club here today.

Played under stableford full handicap format, the six-handicap amateur Rai played a round of four-over 72 gross to win the overall title. He took the turn at six-over 40 before carding two-under 32 on the back nine. Rai received return tickets to Bangkok for a couple along with the trophy. He also bagged the longest drive award and earned gift hamper from Ruslan.

Hridesh Kumar Singh won the below-9 handicap section trophy with the score of 67 nett, while Raj Pradhan came second with 68. Likewise, Arun Dev Acharya won the above-10 handicap category title with the score of 64 nett, while Kishan Agrawal was runner-up at 65. The winners received round tickets to Pokhara and two-night stay package, while the runners-up got gift hampers from Miraj and Shangri-La Hotel.

Maj Gen Daman Bahadur Ghale won the senior section trophy with the score of 67, while Sher Bahadur Pandey lifted the super senior category title with the score of 70. Pratima Sherpa bagged the women’s section title with the score of 67 nett, while Arshiya Bnu came second with the score of 70. Swapnil Bhattarai claimed the junior category trophy with 30 points and Shaswot Pradhan was second with 26 points. They received gift hampers from Shangri-La and Octave.

Raj Pradhan won the most birdies award with four birdies, while Samir Acharya took the closest-to-the-pin trophy. They received gift hampers from Ruslan.

A total of 121 players took part in the two-day tournament sponsored by Jawalakhel Group of Industries. RNGC President Rabindra Man Shrestha, Managing Director of Himayalan Distillery Pvt Ltd Raj Bahadur Shah, RNGC Vice-captain Shrihar SJB Rana, Lady Captain Pawitra Yakthumba and past presidents Prachanda Bahadur Shrestha and Madhukar Yakthumba handed over the prizes to the winners.

Shrestha to donate Rs 151,000

KATHMANDU: Managing Director of Panchakanya Group Pradeep Kumar Shrestha announced to provide the Royal Nepal Golf Club with Rs 151,000 here on Saturday.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony of the Ruslan Golf Tournament, Shrestha announced the financial assistance to the oldest club of the country which is celebrating its 100 years.“We learned to play golf from this club and it is regarded as the mother club in Nepal. I heard of financial crunch at the club and hope this small token will inspire others to donate more,” he said. RNGC President Rabindra Man Shrestha said the club was aiming to raise a fund of Rs 20 million to secure the future of the club. “We hope to have a certain fund so that we can run our activities,” he added.
