Murry wins SCP Golden Jubilee Golf crown

Kathmandu, November 26

Andrew Murry won the title of the Soaltee Crowne Plaza Golden Jubilee Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format over 18 holes, the seven-handicapper Murry accumulated a total of 39 points to win the trophy of the prestigious tournament organised by Soaltee Crowne Plaza to celebrate the completion of 50 years of Soaltee Hotel Limited Kathmandu.

Murry received two business class tickets to Hong Kong from Cathay Dragon. Murry also bagged the closest-to-the-pin award. Dhurba Thapa finished second on count back after he was tied on 38 points with Prithivi Malla and Lobsang Tashi. Malla claimed the gross section award with 34 points.

Korean golfer Ujin Shim bagged the women’s section trophy with 30 points, while Pratima Sherpa came second with 27 points.

Lobsang Tenzing won the senior category (above-60) trophy with 38 points, while Lobsang Tashi came second with 37 points. Senior Advocate Biswa Kanta Mainali bagged the super senior (above-70) category title with 35 points.

Devasri Rana accumulated 30 points to win the junior section award.

Board of Director at Soaltee Crowne Plaza Bijay Bahadur Shrestha won the five-star hotel category title with 27 points. Former national football team member Tashi Dong won the longest drive award.

A total of 100 golfers took part in the tournament. Prabhakar SJB Rana, Chairman Emeritus of Soaltee Hotel Limited, Executive Chairman Dinesh Bista, Director BB Shrestha and General Manager Upaul Majumdar, along with Keri Lui, Country Manager of Dragon Air handed over prizes to the winners.
