National Futsal League kicks off

Kathmandu, August 31

Dhanyantri Futsal, Busy Futsal, Swayambhu Recreational Centre, Chaur Recreational Center, Samakhusi Futsal, Sankhamul Futsal and Stupa Futsal Bouddha won the opening day matches of the Red Bull National Futsal League here today.

Dhanyantri defeated Khumaltar Yuba Club 6-2, Busy beat BG Brothers 3-2 and Swayambhu edged past Kick-Off Futsal 3-2. Also, Chaur Recreational Center hammered Futsal Village 7-1, Samakhushi outplayed Dhuku Futsal Hub 5-0, Sankhamul registered a 5-2 victory over Rave Futsal Center and Stupa beat Rajini Futsal 3-2. The match between Harisiddi Futsal and Khalibari Football Club ended in a 7-7 stalemate.

A total of 16 teams are taking part in the first-ever futsal league organised by the Futsal Committee under All Nepal Football Association. The winners and runners-up of the league will receive Rs 500,000 and Rs 250,000 respectively. Similarly, the best goalkeeper, defender, forward, midfielder and coach will be awarded with RS 20,000 each.

The league will also serve as the selection event for the AFC Futsal Championship 2018 Qualifiers slated for October 13-15 in Iran. Nepal are in Group A along with Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan in the South and Central Zone, while hosts Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan are in Group B.

Earlier, Minister for Youth and Sports Rajendra Kumar KC inaugurated the League at the Chaur Recreational Center. The league-round matches are being played at two venues — Chaur Recreational Center, Bansbari and Stupa Futsal Hub in Bouddha. ANFA President Narendra Shrestha, General Secretary Dhirendra Pradhan, CEO Indra Man Tuladhar and ANFA Futsal Committee Chairman Ramesh Rayamajhi were also present on

the occasion.
