KATHMANDU: An inspiring performance led by the captain Paras Khadka and spinners, avenged the humiliating loss against the Dutch on Saturday, defeated the hosts by 19 runs with 9 balls to spare, keeping their hope alive of progressing into next round of the ICC World Cricket League Championship at Amsteelveen, on Monday.

In reply, the Netherlands run chase got off to a possible bad start as they were reduced to 21 for 3 as early as in the 7th over of the allotted 50 overs game.

Captain Paras Khadka returned with the ball to haunt the Dutch innings with two early strikes as he ripped through the Netherlands top order and dented an early blow in their run chase.

Earlier Khadka had top scored for Nepal with 84 runs with seven fours and a towering six over the cow corner.

Netherlands batsman Re van der Merwe had hit a half century against run a play to bring his side into the match but failed to consolidate the innings till the end.

Merwe top scored for the Dutch with 56 runs off just 61 deliveries with four hit to the boundary and a maximum. He was cleanly bowled by young leg-spinner Sandip Lamichanne around his legs while trying to sweep the ball.

His wicket gave confidence to the Nepali bowlers who kept the Netherlands batsman under constant pressure with tidy line and length.

At the end of 47th over Dutch were 192/6 cruising well along in their run chase, just 26 runs required off 18 balls with set batsman Tim Gruijters in the crease.

Tim Gruijters who was anchoring the Dutch chase with 44 runs in the dying overs of the game failed  while trying to accelerate the run rate. Basanta Regmi straight ball ripped through his defense to beg back the stumps.

Gruijters wicket triggered the Dutch collapse as they lost remaining four wickets for just 6 runs and folded their innings for 198 runs.

Nepal's bowling performance was inspired by their charismatic captain Paras Khadka who returned with the best figure of 6-0-19-2.

Seamer Sompal Kami and spinner Basanta Regmi chipped in with two wickets each.

Part time spinner Sagar pun and specialist spin bowlers Shakti Prasad Gauchan and Sandip Lamichanne  took a wicket apiece each.

Meanwhile, the Dutch still top the table of the eight-teams group with 12 points despite losing to the spirited Nepali side whereas Nepal are currently languishing at the bottom half of the table with just 6 points from three wins.
