Sri Lanka post 228-run target to Nepal in ACC Youth Asia Cup

KATHMANDU: The Sri Lanka Under-19 cricket team have posted a 228-run target to Nepal in the Asian Cricket Council Youth Asia Cup 2016 at the Nondescripts Cricket Club in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka were restricted to 227 runs with a loss of eight wickets at the end of 50 overs.

Nepal had a very impressive start when Kamal Singh Airee claimed Sri Lankan opener Vishva Chathuranga's wicket, on the very first ball.

But, Sri Lanka remained strong on the ground till 13.6 overs.

Nepal got a chance to claim the second wicket when Dipendra Singh Airee caught Revan Kelly's shot midair, while Pawan Sarraf claimed Kamindu Mendis' wicket in 19.2 overs.

Sri Lanka's innings remained slow yet steady and they made a century in 25.4 overs as Krishan Sanjula took a single.

K Airee and Sarraf claimed one wicket each later as well. K Airee took top-scorer Hasitha Boyagoda's wicket in 34.5 overs whereas Sarraf claimed Sanjula's wicket in 35.2 overs.

Suvankar Urao took the sixth wicket when he stumped Lasith Croospulle while he was running between the wickets.

With Jehan Daniel's single in the 45.6 overs, Sri Lanka were successful to make the double century.

Inching closer to the end of the innings, K Airee claimed two more wickets in a single over. He took Daniel's wicket in 48.2 overs and Nipun Ransika's in 48.5 overs.

Nepal clashing with Sri Lanka in ACC Youth Asia Cup

KATHMANDU: Nepal Under-19 cricket team are currently playing against Sri Lanka in the Asian Cricket Council Youth Asia Cup 2016 at the Nondescripts Cricket Club, in Sri Lanka.

Nepal won the toss and elected to field first.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan are playing against Bangladesh at the Uyanwatte Stadium, in Sri Lanka.
