Nepal football squad announced for Bangladesh friendlies

KATHMANDU: The All Nepal Football Association on Friday announced the Nepal football squad for two friendly matches with Bangladesh scheduled for next week.

Anil Gurung has been named the skipper and Biraj Maharjan his deputy in the 21-man squad.

According to ANFA, the team includes three goalkeepers, nine defenders, five midfielders and four forwards.

Gyotoku Koji from Japan is the head coach of the team while Raju Kaji Shakya and Ujjwal Manandhar will train the players as the coach and the goalkeeping coach respectively.

Nepal are scheduled to play Bangladesh on July 15 and 17.

According to ANFA, the friendlies are a part of the preparation for the upcoming AFC Solidarity Cup. The tournament is scheduled for November 2-11, 2016.

Total 29 players had been called for the month-long training before making the selection.
