Nepal women's cricket team lose to Hong Kong

KATHMANDU: Nepal women's cricket team lost to Hong Kong by six wickets during their second match of the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifying Series Asia Region at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok of Hong Kong, on Sunday.

Losing only four wickets, the hosts wrapped up the innings in 16.3 overs.

Natural Yip scored 33 runs off 39 balls with three 4s, Yasmin Daswani scored 13 off 24 balls, Kary Chan scored 6 while Chloe Ip could not score a single run.

Yip and Chan were both bowled by Nirmala Kumari Shahi while Karuna Bhandari bowled Daswani. Ip was sent back to the pavilion with a runout on the second ball she faced by Bhandari.

Mariko Hill (not out) scored 10 from 11 balls and Shanzeen Shahzad (not out) 11 from 11 balls.

Nepal women's cricket team post 78-run target to Hong Kong

KATHMANDU: Nepal women's cricket team have posted a 78-run target to Hong Kong during their second match of the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifying Series Asia Region at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok of Hong Kong, on Sunday.

The Nepali team lost all 10 wickets and were restricted to 77 runs in 19.2 overs.

They had won the toss and elected to bat first.

For Nepal, Nirmala Kumari Shahi scored 18 runs off 32 balls, Rubina Chhetry scored 12 off 14 balls and Rashmi Chaulagain scored 11 off 19 balls.

Other players were all restricted within 10 runs, failing to increase the scoreboard.

It is essential for the Nepali team to win every match in order to qualify for the World Cup to be held in 2017.
