Shoo, Vitidsarn in final

Zhi Shoo of Malaysia and Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand advanced to the men’s singles final of the Yonex Sunrise Nepal International Series here at the Nepal APF Club covered hall today.

Shoo defeated India’s Dinuka Karunaratha 21-14, 21-18, while Vitidsarn overcame another Indian shuttler Kaushal Dharmamer 21-17, 21-16 in the semi-final matches. In women’s singles, Thet Htar Thuzar of Myamar beat Iran’s Soraya Aghaeihajiaagha 21-17, 21-15, while Thailand’s Chananchida Jucharoen advanced to the final after Indian shuttler Rashi Tyagi retired while trailing 21-4, 11-2.

Likewise, Supak Jomkoh and Supissara Paewsampran of Thailand defeated Singapore’s Danny Bawa Chrisnanta and Tan Wei Han 21-19, 18-21, 21-18 in mixed doubles semi-final match. They will face another Thai pair Panachai Worasaktayanan and Pitchayanin Ungka, who beat Indian duo Raju Mohamed Rehan and J Anees Kowsar 21-18, 21-14.

In women’s doubles semi-final matches, Sri Lankan pair Thilini Pramodika Hendahewa and Kavidi Sirimannage registered a 21-15, 19-21, 22-20 victory over Iran’s Soraya Aghaeihajiagha and Myanmar’s Thet Htar Thuzar, while India’s Arpana Balan and Sruthi KP beat Maldives pair Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq and Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq 21-9, 21-11.

Like mixed doubles event, both Thailand pairs made it to the men’s doubles final defeating Indian opponents. Writ Sarapat and Panachai Worasaktayana beat Hemanth M Gowda and Madhusudan Madappa 21-17, 21-15, while the pair of Supak Jomkoh and Wachirawit Sothon defeated V Hanumaiah Ranganatha and Ashith Surya 20-22, 21-17, 21-19.

The finals of the tournament, organised by Nepal Badminton Association, are slated for Saturday.
