Army, Police enter semi-finals

Lalitpur, November 6

Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal Police Club advanced to the semi-finals of the CoAS fourth International Women’s Football Tournament at the Army Physical and Sports Training Centre in Lagankhel today.

Hosts TAC registered a 4-0 victory over West Sikkim Football Academy of India in the quarter-finals, while fellow departmental side NPC made it to the last four without kicking the ball after their opponents Bihar did not show up.

Deepa Adhikari, Sharmila Thapa Magar, Deepa Rai and Indira Rai scored one goal each for TAC. Adhikari opened the scoring in the 30th minute as TAC went into the break with 1-0 lead. TAC then slammed home three goals in the second half. Thapa Magar doubled the tally in the 55th minute before Deepal Rai made it 3-0 three minutes later. Indira Rai put the issue beyond doubt with the team’s fourth goal in the 73rd minute. Deepa Rai was named the player-of-the-match.

TAC, who had hammered Eastern Region 6-0 in the opening match, will take on Central Region in Sunday’s semi-final match. Central had defeated Far-western Region 7-0 in the quarter-final match. The second semi-final match pits NPC and defending champions Nepal APF Club, who registered a 15-0 victory over Western Region on Saturday.
