Earthquake recorded in northwest Pakistan near Afghanistan border

LONDON: An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 was recorded on Sunday in northwest Pakistan, according to the United States Geological Survey.

There were no immediate reports of casualties from the quake, which struck 83 km (50 miles) north-northwest of the city of Chitral, in a sparsely populated area close to the border with Afghanistan.
