160 new Covid-19 cases registered on Tuesday; nationwide tally hits 272,215

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 09

Nepal on Tuesday reported 160 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the nationwide infection count has advanced to 272,215.

Of the total cases,61 are females while 99 are males.

In the last 24 hours, 79 cases surfaced in Kathmandu valley. Of the newly infected persons, 29 are females while 50 are males.

Kathmandu district alone witnessed 67 cases of Covid-19. Lalitpur reported seven new cases while Bhaktapur logged five cases, today. At present, there are 1,080 active coronavirus cases in Kathmandu while number of the same in Lalitpur is 26 and that in Bhaktapur is 13.

Likewise, 165 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry.

As of today, 268,431 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate, as such, is 98.6 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 1,737.

Meanwhile, two more fatalities from the disease have taken the total death-toll to 2,047.

According to the health ministry, 4,309 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 2,101,059 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 87 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Monday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 272,055 with 130 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, 2.3 million people have lost their lives to Covid-19 while over 107 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus.
