105 new Covid-19 cases registered on Tuesday; nationwide tally hits 272,945

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 16

Nepal on Tuesday reported 105 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the nationwide infection count has advanced to 272,945.

Of the total cases, 40 are females while 65 are males. In the last 24 hours, 47 cases surfaced in Kathmandu valley. The capital hosts the highest number of active cases.

Kathmandu district alone witnessed 37 cases of Covid-19. Lalitpur reported six new cases while Bhaktapur logged only four cases, today.

Likewise, 99 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry.

As of today, 269,303 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate, as such, is 98.7 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 1,587.

The nationwide death-toll reached 2,055 with zero fatality reported today.

According to the health ministry, 3,360 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 2,123,951 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 74 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Monday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 272,840 with 122 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 109 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 2.4 million people have lost their lives to Covid-19.

Likewise, over 84 million people have recovered from the disease while over 22 million cases are still active.
