Chandrapur register third victory

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 16

Chandrapur Municipality defeated Chaudandigadhi Municipality 2-1 in the Women's National League here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.

Rajani Thokar and Dil Kumari Rana Magar scored one each for Chandrapur, while Manita Tamang netted the consolation goal for Chaudandigadhi.

With their third win, Chandrapur earned nine points and remained at the sixth position. Chaudandigadhi are yet to open their accounts.

Thokar put Chandrapur ahead in the third minute of the first half injury time, while Rana Magar doubled the tally in the 67th minute.

Tamang reduced the deficit a minute later but Chaudandigadhi failed to find the equaliser and they faced 11th straight defeat.

Meanwhile, Nepal APF Club striker Sabitra Bhandari was ruled out tournament after MRI scans showed multiple injuries on her knee. Bhandari was stretchered off after she collided with Nepal Police Club goalkeeper Usha Nath on Monday.

Physio Nabina Vaidhya confirmed ACL injury and that the player might need surgery. 'Apart from ACL injury, other ligaments are also involved in the case,' said Vaidhya. 'Bhandari might undergo surgery as the injury needs surgical intervention.

As it's a severe injury, Bhandari will need six months to one year to fully recover after surgery,' she added. 'I am in constant touch with orthopaedic surgeon and we will take Bhandari for check up in a couple of days.'

The All Nepal Football Association President Karma Tsering Sherpa said ANFA had already started Bhandari's treatment. 'We will not leave any stone unturned for her treatment. We are ready to send her abroad, if needed,' said Sherpa.

Bhandari has scored 43 goals in 10 matches in the ongoing league and she is also the all-time highest scorer for the national team with 38 goals.
