88 new Covid-19 cases registered on Saturday; nationwide tally hits 273,351

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 20

Nepal on Saturday reported 88 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the nationwide infection count has advanced to 273,351.

Of the total cases, 31 are females while 57 males.

In the last 24 hours, 54 new cases surfaced in Kathmandu valley. Of the newly infected, 17 are females and 37 are males. The capital hosts the highest number of active cases. Presently, there are 946 active cases in Kathmandu district, 25 in Lalitpur, and 22 in Bhaktapur.

Likewise, 136 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry. As of today, 269,755 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate, as such, is 98.7 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 1,535.

The nationwide death-toll remains at 2,061 with zero fatality reported today.

According to the health ministry, 2,048 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 2,136,309 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 71 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Friday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 273,263 with 97 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 111 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 2.4 million people have lost their lives to Covid-19. Likewise, over 86 million people have recovered from the disease while more than 22 million cases are still active.
