Country registers 59 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday; tally shifts to 274,869

KATHMANDU, MARCH 09

Nepal on Tuesday reported 59 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the nationwide infection count has advanced to 274,869.

Of the newly infected, 25 are females and 34 are males.

In the last 24 hours, 24 cases surfaced in Kathmandu district while Lalitpur reported six cases whereas Bhaktapur reported one new case. Among all the districts, Kathmandu holds the highest number of infections in the country.

Likewise, 60 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry.

As of today, 270,987 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate, as such, is 98.6 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 870.

The nationwide death-toll reached 3,012 with one Covid-related fatality reported today.

According to the health ministry, 2,715 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 2,199,950 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 56 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Monday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 274,810 with 89 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 117 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 2.6 million people have lost their lives to Covid-19.

Likewise, over 93 million people have recovered from the disease while more than 21 million cases are still active.
