Country registers 97 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday; tally shifts to 275,070

Nepal on Thursday reported 97 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the nationwide infection count has advanced to 275,070.
In the last 24 hours, 36 cases surfaced in Kathmandu district while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported four new cases each. Among all the districts, Kathmandu holds the highest number of infections in the country.
Likewise, 66 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry. As of today, 271,116 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate, as such, is 98.6 per cent.
Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 942.
The nationwide death-toll remains at 3,012 with zero Covid-related fatalities reported today.
According to the health ministry, 4,484 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 2,207,922 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.
Currently, there are 59 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.
On Wednesday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 274,973 with 104 newly confirmed cases.
Globally, over 118 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 2.6 million people have lost their lives to Covid-19. Likewise, over 94 million people have recovered from the disease while more than 21 million cases are still active.
