Countrywide infection count stands at 279,388 with 288 new Covid-19 cases reported today

KATHMANDU, APRIL 9

Nepal on Friday reported 288 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the nationwide infection count has advanced to 279,388.

Of the total cases recorded today, Kathmandu district holds the highest number of new infections with 117 cases logged today. Kaski, with 33 new infections, has the second highest number of cases registered in the past 24 hours, followed by Rupandehi with 16 new cases.

Likewise, 127 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry.As of today, 273,735 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate, as such, is 98 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 2,615.

The nationwide death-toll remains at 3,038 with zero Covid-related fatalities reported today.

According to the health ministry, 4,071 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 2,306,244 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 84 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Thursday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 279,100 with 332 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 134 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 2.9 million people have lost their lives to Covid-19. Likewise, over 108 million people have recovered from the disease while more than 23 million cases are still active.
