GAIGHAT, APRIL 18

A woman was killed after she was raped at Hile of Nava Jyoti Community Forest, Udayapur.

The incident came to light after the woman's remains were found at Hile of Nava Jyoti Community Forest three days ago.

Police arrested Raju Achhame, 24, for his alleged involvement in the incident yesterday.

Achhame admitted to the police that he had killed the woman after raping her.

The arrested youth had taken the mentally-disturbed woman to the forest at around 6:00pm and raped her on March 24.

Local women and girls had reported to the police after they saw bangles, a shawl and a woman's remains. Police have recovered a stone used for the woman's murder and a cap of the person accused of the murder at the incident site.

Achhame is criminal-minded, according to locals.

He had stabbed a person with a knife three months ago in the village, said Padam Sarki. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
