KATHMANDU, APRIL 29

The government-owned Food Management and Trading Company has set up four outlets to sell the food items during the prohibitory order.

Aiming at distributing food items at reasonable price during the prohibitory order, the company has set up its outlets within the Kathmandu valley at Thapathali, Nakkhu, Ramshahpath and Suryabinayak.

As the government has imposed prohibitory order in the valley from today, retailers are selling food items on random prices. Thus, to provide goods at reasonable price to the consumers, FMTC has started the outlets from today.

According to the schedule published by the company, the outlets at Ramshahpath and Suryabinayak will be open from 7:00am to 11:00am and at Nakkhu from 7:00am to 5:00pm. Meanwhile, food items will be sold in three shifts from provincial sales centre in Thapathali. The first shift will be from 7:00am to 10:00am, second shift from10:00am to 5:00pm and the third shift will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

The company has stated that basmati rice, Jumli marsi rice, Karnali beans, cooking oil, ghee and sanitisers, among other essential goods, will be available in its outlets.

Similarly, considering the risk of the COVID pandemic, the company has urged consumers to opt for online service if possible. The company has stated that consumers can place their orders for home delivery through the company's online portal nepalfood.gov.np or via Sasto Deal app.

The company has mentioned that the home delivery of products ordered through the nepalfood.gov.np is only available within the ring road, while the orders received via Sasto Deal will be delivered across the valley.

The company has stated it will not take any additional charge for the home delivery service during the prohibitory order.

With the country in the grips of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic and the Kathmandu valley witnessing highest number of infections, the government has imposed prohibitory order from today for the next 14 days.
