KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 24

Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav has highlighted Nepal's significant progress in ophthalmic treatment services.

Speaking at the golden jubilee celebration of Ramkumar Mahaveer Prasad Kedia Eye Hospital today, he expressed pride in the hospital's remarkable advancements, noting that its achievements were not just a milestone for Madhes Province but for the entire nation.

"The Kedia Eye Hospital has been delivering quality eye care services not only to the people of Madhes but also to residents of Bagmati and even neighboring India," he stated.

Vice President Yadav acknowledged the hospital's five-decade-long commitment to providing accessible ophthalmic care and urged it to continue enhancing the affordability and quality of its services in the years ahead.

As part of the jubilee celebrations, he laid the foundation stone for the hospital's new 'Vision Pillar' and its proposed building expansion.

Rajesh Kumar Kedia, Chairman of Ramkumar Mahaveer Prasad Kedia Eye Hospital, reflected on the institution's journey, noting that what began as a modest five-bed facility in Loharpatti, Birgunj, has now evolved into a 175-bed hospital.

"In the past 50 years, we have treated over 2.7 million patients and performed approximately 400,000 eye surgeries. Among them, 182,000 patients received free surgical procedures. Moving forward, we plan to establish an eye bank and further enhance the hospital's services," he announced.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Sunu Dulal was honored with the Late Hiralal Kedia Award, receiving a cash prize of Rs 251,151 in recognition of her contributions.
