KATHMANDU, MAY 04
Kathmandu continues to top the chart of worst Covid-hit districts with record high 2779 cases reported on Tuesday.
The three districts of the valley alone accounted for over 51 per cent of the total registered cases today as Bhaktapur and Lalitpur added 513 and 601 infections each, respectively, to the valley's total tally of 3893.
Among the three districts of the valley, Kathmandu in particular has been reeling with surging cases of the infection as the district's count of 2,779 today adds on the already vulnerable health infrastructure of the national capital.
As Nepal's COVID-19 tally on Tuesday rose to all time high with 7,587 freshly reported cases in past 24 hours, the total number of active cases reached 59,798.
Similarly, in grim milestone, the country also logged it's highest COVID-19 fatalities as 55 patients succumbed to the highly contagious respiratory infection in a single day.
In the meantime, authorities are expanding cremation space at the Pashupatinath Aryaghat premises to keep up with mounting deaths resultant to the pandemic.
