KATHMANDU, MAY 25

Nepal on Tuesday reported 8,387 new cases of coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the nationwide coronavirus infection count has climbed to 528,848.

Likewise, total fatalities from the highly contagious respiratory disease has climbed to 6,700 as 169 more deaths were reported from across the country.

In the same time period, 6,404 people recovered from the infection after which the active caseload stands at 117, 261.

Antigen tests confirmed 249 positive infections in the past 24 hours indicating that a total of 8,636 cases from both RT-PCR and antigen tests were registered.

According to the health ministry, a total of 22,936 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 22,306 were PCR tests while 630 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 2,958,620 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

404,887 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection so far. The recovery rate from the disease stands at 76.6 per cent.

Currently, there are 914 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Monday, Nepal's coronavirus case count had reached 520,461 with 7,220 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 168 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3.4 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 149 million people have recovered while more than 15 million cases are still active.
