15-bed COVID isolation facility comes into operation

KATHMANDU, MAY 30

A 15-bed COVID-19 isolation facility has come into operation at Gokarneshwor Municipality, in Kathmandu.

According to the municipality's Health Section Chief Hari Prasad Upadhyay, the facility supported by the Yagyadol (Jagdol) Community Forest and Lions Club International, District 325 A 1 has been set up in the National Martyrs' Memorial building.

A medical team of Gokarna Primary Hospital has been providing medical support and care at the isolation centre. The Lions Club has managed oxygen supply for the isolation ward which will be useful for those unable to stay in home isolation.

Gokarneshwor has recorded a total of 4,348 COVID-19 cases so far, 50 per cent of them being reported since the outbreak of the second wave of the virus. The locality has confirmed 36 fatalities from the infection since the resurgence of the second wave while the first wave of the pandemic had claimed 28 lives here.

The municipality said there were 597 active cases in the locality currently.
