Indian Army hands over medical equipment worth Rs 288m to Nepali Army

Indian Army had provided 100,000 doses of COVISHIELD vaccines to Nepali Army in March

KATHMANDU, JUNE 11

The Indian Army has handed over medical equipment and supplies worth Rs 288 million to the Nepali Army as a part of its 'Neighborhood First' policy.

Ambassador of India Vinay Mohan Kwatra handed over the medical supplies to General Purna Chandra Thapa, Chief of Nepali Army, amidst a programme at Nepali Army Headquarters, in Tundikhel, today.

During the handover ceremony, Ambassador Kwatra reaffirmed India's support to Nepali Army in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and lauded its contribution in this respect.

According to the statement issued by the embassy, the equipment including ventilators, ambulances, ICU beds, PPE kits, PCR test kits had reached Kathmandu on Thursday.

Indian Army has been assisting the Nepali Army to respond to Covid-19 crisis through various kinds of assistance since last year, including providing it with 100,000 doses of COVISHIELD vaccines which were provided in March, added the embassy.

The latest assistance is another testament to the close cooperation between the two armies and the two countries, particularly in times of need, it further said.
