One killed, three injured in Udayapur jeep accident

People’s movement in the bazaar area has gone up after banks and financial institutions were allowed to open for three days a week in Udayapur from Sunday morning.

GAIGHAT, JUNE 13

A person died while three others sustained injuries after the jeep they were travelling on fell below the road in Tapli of Udayapur district on Saturday night.

Police have identified the deceased as Indra Bahadur BK of Dudhauli Municipality-10 in Sindhuli district. Likewise, the injured are Daak Narayan Shrestha (35) of Katari Municipality-10, Jhakar Sarki (30) and Dambar Bahadur Tamang(26) -- both of Tapli Rural Municipality-4.

According to police, the incident occurred when the jeep (Ba 18 Cha 1567), en route from Lahan of Siraha district to Thanagaun of Tapli Rural Municipality in Udayapur, skidded off the road and plunged some 200 metres below at Pokhari, at 7:00 pm yesterday.

The jeep was ferrying machinery to Jamire village.

All the injured were immediately rushed to Biratnagar-based health facility for treatment.
