Nepalgunj, June 14

Employees at Kohalpur-based Nepalgunj Medical College have started an agitation citing delay in their remuneration.

The agitating staff demanded that they be provided regular salary and risk allowance.

They started their agitation from today, saying they have not received salary and allowance for the past four months.

According to NMC Nepal Employees' Organisation Chairperson Kushmakhar Basyal, they are now holding a symbolic protest.

'This is our symbolic protest in view of the possible effect of our agitation on regular services at the hospital.

We will have to resort to a series of agitation if our concerns are not addressed,' he said.

According to sources, doctors, health workers, sanitation workers and others haven't received salary and allowance even for the period when they provided services putting their health at risk during the height of the Covid-19 crisis.
